Uninvited Guest

Silent film · 0:45 · composited into Buster Keaton's Sherlock Jr. (1924)

I put myself inside a hundred-year-old film. Keaton sweeps up, oblivious; I'm standing in the seats behind him, unable to get his attention, and eventually I make my peace with it. Everything ran locally on one machine, entirely on open-source tools — filmed on a phone against a bare wall, matted with RobustVideoMatting, composited into the original plate and degraded to match its grain, black level and frame rate. The score is MusicGen. The intertitles are set to match the film's own lettering. No paid AI services, nothing uploaded to anyone's cloud.
